It was bound to happen and now it’s official. Apple has just begun it’s recycling program which involves them taking your older iPhone and offering you a gift card on the spot to be used to upgrade to a new iPhone. I’m sure this news is to anticipate people wanting to trade in their iPhone 4′s, 4S’s and heck even the latest 5 to get that sweet new 5S when it’s revealed. I think it’s a smart move by Apple as now you cut out the middle man and bring you ancient and outdated iPhone 5 to Apple and walk out with the newest 5S while lightening your wallet a little less than before.
According to reports in the Wall Street Journal and 9to5 Mac, the most Apple will credit someone for an old device is $280, and the store credit needs to be used on a new iPhone.
After doing some digging I found out Gazelle will offer up to 320$ for an iPhone 5 in 16Gb, and up to 340$ for a 64Gb model. It doesn’t seem like the most exciting program in the world seeing the offers will be lower than rival Gazelle.com. If you have the option I say also use eBay, thats where you can really get top dollar for any tech, especially Apple stuff.
Thanks to TidBits who offered to be my best friend forever in exchange for my iPhone.
